Mayor’s trick or treat event cancelled

OTTAWA – COVID-19 has another trick up its sleeve and its not a treat for fans of Hallowe’en.

“Due to the evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 14th annual Trick or Treat with the Mayor event, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 at City Hall, has been cancelled,” city staff released in a statement today (Oct. 10).

This annual event typically supports the Ottawa Food Bank’s Baby Basics Program, which provides baby food and supplies to families in need and is made possible with the support of many volunteers and generous corporate sponsors.

“The City of Ottawa recognizes the incredible support of local sponsors and encourages residents to donate to local food banks and charities,” staff said. “The health and safety of all residents is of paramount importance. Residents are reminded to practice physical distancing as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve and to visit for the latest information.”
