Man charged with indecent act, voyeurism offences in Kanata
KANATA – Ottawa police arrested a man for indecent acts and voyeurism today (Jan. 24) following a nine-month investigation stemming from a May 27, 2019 incident.
“Today, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit (SACA) charged Christopher Nelms, 43-years-old of Ottawa, with one count of indecent act and one count of voyeurism,” the OPS released in a statement this afternoon.
On May 27, 2019, in a commercial business located in the 400 block of Earl Grey Dr. in Kanata, two women noticed a man was staring at them in a suspicious manner, and they reported the incident to police.
“The investigation revealed the man was filming the women while exposing his genitals,” the OPS said.
SACA investigators are concerned there could be more victims.
“The Ottawa police will respect a victim’s wishes to pursue or not pursue the matter before the courts,” the OPS said. “The reporting of these incidents by victims to police is key for investigators to identify suspects and determine crime trends.”
