Man charged in break and enter of Vanier funeral home, church
OTTAWA – A suspect involved in the theft of credit cards, a laptop and cremated remains has been charged with theft.
The Ottawa Police Service Break and Enter section charged a man in connection with a number of break and enters to commercial venues in the Vanier community in January, including a church and a funeral home. The man stole personal items including credit cards, which were then used to make purchases.
In one of the incidents, the accused stole three keepsake pendants containing ashes of a deceased.
In another incident, a laptop containing over 700 musical scores was taken.
Steve Gerovac, 43-years-old, of Ottawa has been charged with breaking and entering and two counts of using a stolen credit card. Gerovac is scheduled to appear in court on April 9.
