Long-time WC realtor Spratt mourned in community
WEST CARLETON – Popular realtor Jennifer Spratt is being mourned today after passing away yesterday (Oct. 30).
Spratt suffered a heart attack Oct. 21 and was confined to hospital until passing way on Oct. 30.
Spratt, 59, was an award-winning broker well-known in Arnprior and West Carleton and the surrounding areas.
Close to 25 years ago, Spratt started working with her dad Don at Royal Lepage and went on to become a partner at Coldwell Banker Valley Wide Real Estate.
Spratt was born with a hole in her heart and experienced bumps in the road health-wise over the years but nonetheless excelled in just about everything she did.
Her colleague Cheryl Richardson said Spratt loved life and lived it to the fullest.
“She was the type of person who always wanted to keep everyone on the up and up and keep them together,” Richardson said in a recent interview. “She had her hand in everything. She hosted family dinners every Sunday night – she was a wonderful cook. She helped run the Galetta Rummage Sale and was with the Galetta Community Association. You could never tell her to slow down, ever – it was like go, go all the time.”
Spratt loved her family, pets and friends. Richardson said she enjoyed trips to the gym with Spratt.
“She liked to be active and she loved walking,” she said. “She always had wonderful adventures – every year she had an adventure with her girlfriends.”
Among her favourite memories of her co-worker and friend is Spratt’s sage advice when times got tough: “Straddle the hole, don’t fall in.”
Spratt is survived by her husband Dale Dean, three grown children and one granddaughter. Details on funeral arrangements are not yet known at time of publishing.
