Kirby trial date July 10

ARNPRIOR – Well known Ottawa Valley referee and umpire William “Bill” Kirby has a July 10 date for his attempted murder trial.

A judicial pre-trial was scheduled for William “Bill” Kirby on Tuesday at the Pembroke Courthouse. The charges Kirby faces stems from an incident that took place in September when a woman was found badly injured in a wooded area in McNab Braeside.

The 72-year-old former hockey referee from Mississippi Mills is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, pointing a firearm, uttering threats and criminal harassment. There is a publication ban on all evidence entered in court.
