Kinburn beneficiary of OLG community enhancement funding

OTTAWA – Kinburn’s community centre green space was one benefactor of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s (OLG) community project funding over the last year.

The City of Ottawa wishes to express its appreciation to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for its support of community projects in Ottawa. The city receives more than $5 million each year from non-tax gaming revenue generated by the Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino.

The city uses the contribution to fund various services and initiatives. Between April 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018, the city received $5.3 million. A portion of the funds were used to pay for infrastructure expenses in a variety of departments, including:

  • Ottawa Fire Services
  • Cultural Services
  • Long Term Care

More than $3.2 million went to construct new parks, or to upgrade existing parks in neighbourhoods across the city, such as:

  • Helen Redpath Thompson Park
  • Kinburn Park
  • Dalhousie South Park
  • Russell Boyd Park
  • Davidson Park

Ottawa has received more than $77 million in non-tax gaming revenue for hosting the gaming facility at Rideau Carleton Raceway since opening in February 2000.

“OLG is proud to be a vital part of Ottawa for more than 19 years and we look forward to continuing to build on that support,” said Jake Pastore, Director of Municipal and Community Relations, OLG. “Each and every year 100 per cent of OLG proceeds are invested in Ontario. From healthcare, to education, to community festivals, OLG proceeds are hard at work in Ottawa and all across our province. And, we appreciate the contribution of Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino employees in making life in their local community that much richer.”
