Kanata robbery suspect to identify

KANATA – Ottawa police are hot on the heals of a knife-wielding thief who robbed a store on Hazeldean Road May 23.

“The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Robbery Unit is looking for the public’s help in identifying a man in relation to commercial robbery in the 400 block of Hazeldean Road,” the OPS released in a statement.

At about 2:40 p.m., a lone male entered a business and robbed the clerk at knifepoint. He bound and restrained the clerk before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of property.

“The suspect is described as male, Black, 6’ ft tall (183 cm), clean shaven and spoke with a stutter,” the OPS said.

He was wearing a black hoodie with ‘Ecko’ written on the front, grey gym pants with a black/red logo on right upper leg, white and black high-top Nike shoes and was carrying a black Reebok gym bag with white lettering.
