Kanata North music series launches Sept. 22
KANATA NORTH – Kanata’s St. John’s Anglican Church will be hosting a new music series starting Sunday. Sept. 22.
Music for a Sunday Afternoon, a new musical series, will provide the residents of Kanata and nearby neighbours with an opportunity to hear from different musical groups in their own community. Each performance will be at 3 p.m. on a Sunday in the historic St. John’s Anglican Church on Sandhill Drive. The church, built in 1839, has great acoustics and its smaller size makes for a comfortable setting to enjoy the music.
The introductory series consists of four different musical concerts, one per month, from September to December at 3 p.m. on Sundays. Each has Its own musical style and showcases musicians from across our region. Planning is underway to continue the concerts in 2020.
“Having these concerts in this beautiful setting that has served our community for many generations makes me think of the early pioneer settlers in March Township who worshipped there and are buried in the heritage cemetery surrounding the church” said Marianne Wilkinson, who was looking for ways to serve the community after retiring from city council. “Visitors to this historic church area also welcomed to explore the church grounds and walk the labyrinth.”
The building’s original walls, built with locally quarried stone, feature stained glass windows and its acoustics enhance the musical experience.
Please join us for these four concerts and share in this unique Kanata North community experience. Funded by Donations at the Door. Free parking.
