Hudson’s Sweet Corn in the ground

PANMURE – it’s the first step towards the making of a happy harvest time – Hudson’s famous sweet corn is in the ground.

Hudson’s Farm Fresh Produce shared the good news today (May 15).

“Planting vegetables began yesterday,” the well-known West Carleton farm announced in a statement today.

The crew has spent the last couple days planting potatoes and “we also started planting sweet corn.”

“Now we need some heat and some rain to get things growing,” the farm said. “We also grow grain corn, soybeans and hard red spring wheat. We grow the majority of our grain corn to feed our pigs. The rest will go to market for uses such as ethanol and animal feed.”

You can find soybeans in tofu, bioplastics, biofuel, animal feed and vegetable oil. Hard red spring wheat is used for flour used in bread, pizza and dough and pasties.
