Heavy WC snow has Environment Canada issue travel advisory

WEST CARLETON – Environment Canada has a warning for motorists as it reports the possibility of heavy snow across west Ottawa this afternoon (Feb. 22).

“Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect for this afternoon,” Environment Canada released in a statement this morning. “An area of snow will continue to move across the area today (Feb. 22). The snow will likely become heavy at times this afternoon and will result in poor visibilities in heavy snow over portions of the area.”

Total snowfall amounts of five to 10 centimetres can be expected by the time the snow comes to an end this evening.

“The afternoon commute will likely be impacted and motorists are advised to exercise caution during the period of heaviest snow,” Environment Canada said.
