Harbour’s Ovington medals at Canadian track championship
MONTREAL – After a silver at the provincial level this spring, Fitzroy Harbour’s Brandon Ovington is proving it was no fluke medaling on the national stage last Friday (July 26).
Ovington, who just graduated from West Carleton Secondary School last spring, earned a bronze at the Athletics Canada World Trials held in Montreal from July 25 to July 28. His event was held July 26, and Ovington’s best throw was 46.86 metres. Ovington finished less than a metre behind Druv Sobti (47.28 m) and Anthony Argyropoulos (49.66 m).
Ovington won a silver at the Ontario Federation of Secondary School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) in shot put last June. In discus, Ovington finished fifth at OFSAA.
