GOULBOURN – Ottawa firefighters were called to Twin Elm Road today (Dec. 30) to battle a house fire in rural Ottawa just out Richmond.

District 8 firefighters from Ottawa Fire Service (OFS) Station 82 were first on scene.

“Firefighters received 911 calls at 5:01a.m.  from occupants of the home on Twin Elm reporting they had been woken up by a fire in their house,” OFS public information officer Carson Tharris released in a statement today. “A working fire was declared on route to the scene as the owners were reporting heavy fire conditions.”

All occupants had evacuated at the time of the call and waited outside until firefighters arrived.

“Crews remain on scene while undertaking an aggressive offensive fire attack,” Tharris said. “An Ottawa fire investigator has been dispatched to the scene to determine the cause.”
