Galetta cookie exchange a treat-sharing program
GALETTA – There’s no better way to meet your neighbour than over a cookie.
The Galetta Community Association’s (GCA) Fourth Annual Cookie and Square Exchange is set for Thursday, Dec. 12 at the GCA Community Hall at 7 p.m.
The CGA invites everyone out to this wonderful event, but you better bring treats.
To participate you must bring 40 cookies and one nine by 13-inch pan of squares for the complete exchange. You can also choose to participate in either the cookie or square exchange individually.
“This event is in its fourth year and is fun for all ages,” GCA President Sandra Fletcher told West Carleton Online yesterday (Nov. 27). “An excellent way to build your Christmas dessert tray and pop in your freezer for the big day, or, you can just enjoy the buffet of many choices when you get home.”
Cookies and squares must be homemade. Organizers ask you bring a copy of your recipe and contact information if you would like to exchange recipes. Pre-cut the squares (to roughly 40) but don’t pre-package the cookies.
“We’re requesting 40 so you can exchange three dozen, have a cookie for the taste test judge and also enjoy a treat with a cup of coffee or tea at the event,” Fletcher said.
There will be prizes for the best cookies and squares. There are also prizes for the best Christmas outfit, holiday hat and sweater, so dress up.
This year’s cookie exchange is being held in memory of Jennifer Spratt who was a long-time active member of the GCA.
Organizers ask you RSVP before Dec. 5 to participate by calling Carol Lacroix at 613-622-5849 ot Lana Dean at 613-623-0113.
