Four minors arrested in Kanata swarming Sunday

KANATA – Four minors are facing major charges after a swarming in Kanata early Sunday (Oct. 3) morning.

“Frontline officers responded to a swarming in the 1-100 block of Stonehaven Drive on Oct. 3,” Ottawa Police Services (OPS) released in a statement today (Oct. 5). “At approximately 1 a.m., a group of four males approached two teenagers who were outside enjoying a snack. The four suspects demanded that the two young men give them their money and possessions.”

The suspects then began to punch and kick the victims. The suspects stole several items and left the area in a vehicle. Both victims suffered minor injuries.

“Responding officers located and stopped the vehicle,” the OPS said. “All four suspects were arrested without incident. A replica hand gun, brass knuckles and a Mama knife were seized.”

The Ottawa police Robbery Unit charged three 16-year-old men and a 15-year-old man with:

  • Robbery with violence (two counts)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
  • Possession of stolen property (two counts)

All four are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
