Found: Police seek armed male in South March wooded area

Updated Feb. 27: “The Ottawa Police Service would like to advise that the missing male has been located and thanks the public for their assistance,” the OPS released in a statement early this morning. “There will be no further updates.”

SOUTH MARCH – Ottawa police are on the search for a missing young man believed to be armed and in the woods of Kanata.

“The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) wants to advise the public of a missing male who is suspected to be armed,” the OPS released in a statement last evening (Feb. 26). Nineteen-year-old Mehemet Akarsuslu, is believed to be in the wooded area of Terry Fox Drive near March Valley Road. There are concerns for his safety at this time and his intentions are unknown.”

Akarsuslu is described as olive skinned, 5’10”, slim build, with short brown hair.  He was last seen wearing a green checkered coat, grey sweatpants and tall rainboots. 

“Anyone with information about the current whereabouts of Akarsuslu is urged to call 911 immediately,” the OPS said. “Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477, or crimestoppers.ca.”
