FCH looking for winter suggestions

CARP – The Friends of the Carp Hill (FCH) loves winter and is looking for your ideas to add to the fun.

Hey, we’re Canadian, we love winter,” the FCH released in a statement today (Nov. 5). “Winter is a time to enjoy the outdoors and comfy times inside.”

So the FCH is open to ideas on how to best enjoy the snowy months in the Carp Hills.

“We’re looking for your ideas on activities that we can organize for enjoying the Carp Hills in this beautiful season,” the FCH said. “In the past we’ve held moonlight snowshoes, which have proved to be very popular.”

This year all activities must follow Ottawa and Provincial Public Health rules, which means social distancing and group size limitations.

Some ideas we’ve brainstormed:

Pop-up nighttime snowshoe on the Crazy Horse Trail – people are alerted through our Facebook page and group when trail and weather conditions are good. Participant numbers would need to be limited.

Scavenger hunt on the trail for families – we’ll specify a few nature things you need to find. Take photos/selfies with the kids. Post on our Facebook group. Kids get a certificate for being a Carp Hills Field Naturalist.

Webinar – Interested in a particular topic about the Carp Hills?  We can help.  Or find an expert.
