Environment Canada calling for ‘isolated thunderstorms’
WEST CARLETON – While we won’t let the weather dampen the first day of Carp Fair, none-the-less Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement.
At 4:30 p.m. today (Sept. 26), Environment Canada says it is expecting isolated thunderstorms.
“Isolated thunderstorms producing small hail and gusty winds late this afternoon,” Environment Canada released in a statement. “Isolated thunderstorms, capable of producing wind gusts to 70 or 80 km/h and pea sized hail, will move through the region late this afternoon and into the early evening hours.”
Environment Canada meteorologists will continue to monitor these thunderstorms closely. Note that Environment Canada’s severe thunderstorm warning criteria are two-centimetre hail, wind gusts to 90 km/h, and 50 mm of rain in an hour or less.
