Eight new, 127 active COVID-19 cases in the city
OTTAWA – It was a single-digit increase in COVID-19 cases today (Aug. 14) as active cases begin to subside again.
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) reports about 127 active cases of COVID-19 in the city and eight new cases of the coronavirus in the capital.
The number of active cases has fallen from 140 on Thursday and more than 200 just last week.
Eight new cases are added to the 2,687 lab-confirmed infections OPH has counted since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of resolved cases in Ottawa is up to 2,296 (85.4 per cent).
OPH says 11 people are in local hospitals with the novel coronavirus – two in intensive care.
There are five institutional outbreaks ongoing.
The public health unit has not reported a local death due to COVID-19 since July 27. Ottawa’s COVID-19 death toll remains at 264.
