Eagle Creek’s Rouse wins OVGA junior match play championship

CORKERY – Weather played a role, but didn’t dampen Eagle Creek’s Ty Rouse who was able to take home the Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA) Junior Match Play Championship on Sunday, Aug. 16.

The tournament was played at Corkery’s Greensmere Golf and Country Club from Aug. 14 to Aug. 16 and players had to endure a 90-minute delay on the final day due to lightning and heavy rain, but the round was able to continue and by the end of the tournament, Rouse won the title with wins over Camelot’s Mathis Rollin and defending champion Rivermead’s Matthieu Massicotte.

Rouse, a Dunrobin native, birdied the last hole for the one-up victory and the trophy. Rouse finished the championship final with one birdie, 12 pars, three bogeys and two double-bogeys for a final round of 78.

Eagle Creek’s Sam Shiposh finished tied for third and Greensmere’s Ben Langille finished tied for ninth.
