Diefenbunker re-opens, again, Feb. 26

CARP – As the Ottawa region comes back to life following the second provincial lockdown in the age of COVID-19, businesses and attractions also slowly re-open their doors to the public.

Yesterday (Feb. 18) Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum announced the will re-open next Friday (Feb. 26).

“We are pleased to announce that Diefenbunker will re-open on Feb. 26,” staff released in a statement. “Our hours of operation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Opening hours will be limited while we work towards a return to regular operations.”

Staff have enhanced already stringent COVID-19 safety policies.

“To ensure your safety, and that of your family, as well as our staff and volunteers, we’ve put extensive safety measures in place, implemented timed online ticketing, and introduced some new ways to explore the bunker,” staff said.

One of the Diefenbunker’s current exhibits, artist in residence Greta Grip’s exhibit Containment – Knit Your Art, wraps up on March 7.

“Artist-in-Residence Greta Grip’s exhibition brings the warmth of knitting to the Diefenbunker’s walls,” staff said. “Largely influenced by the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, Greta Grip’s work reflects on themes of containment, protection, health and safety, public messaging, community and contribution — themes that are as evident today as they were during the Cold War.”
