Culverts to be replaced on Hwy. 17 between Arnprior, Renfrew

RENFREW COUNTY – Plans are being made to replace 42 culverts on Highway 17 between Renfrew and Arnprior.

The Ministry of Transportation and WSP Canada Group are completing a detailed design for the replacement of dozens of culverts between Scheel Drive in McNab/Braeside and three kilometres west of Bruce Street in Renfrew.

The work is expected to start and finish in 2020 and the 42 new culverts will be wide enough for the four-lane highway expansion that will be built there. A report was provided to the County of Renfrew Operations committee during the second week of August detailing the work.

There are no anticipated highway closures expected, however temporary traffic delays as a result of lane reductions can be expected. A traffic management plan will be developed to address potential traffic impacts during the culvert replacement and resurfacing work.
