Corkery provides tips on joining the COVID-19 fight from home

CORKERY – The Corkery Community Association (CCA) is working with its community to provide tips on joining the COVID-19 fight while helping from home.

“Are you looking for a way to help people on the front lines?” the CCA released in a statement today (April 20). “We all have different skills, and with that in mind, we have compiled this list of ways that community members can help.”

Meals for healthcare workers

Community member Mike Lepard has created a sign up to link busy health care workers with people interested in cooking a hot meal for them. Once registered Lepard will put helpers in touch with a worker to figure out a meal.

Sewing masks and caps

The linked Facebook group has patterns and is organizing the sewing of equipment for masks, headbands, caps and other supplies. There are also sewers looking for additional fabric, elastic and buttons.

3D printing

If you have a 3D printer, there is a design for straps for healthcare workers to use with their masks, to reduce the stress to their ears. The directions can be found here. Community member Nancy Taylor is coordinating with a local group to meet the demand from local hospitals. If you have a 3D printer, and want to do same, please let her know. If you have spools of PLA and no (reliable) printer, please consider donating it to her, or others doing this work. Face shields are also being constructed by this group.
