“The City of Ottawa will host community information sessions for residents affected by the spring flooding,” city staff released in a statement today (May 9). “These sessions will provide information to help affected residents recover from the flood, including how to safely return home, remove waste and debris, and apply for financial assistance.”
The city will host two on the same day, Monday, May 13, in West Carleton – one at the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre (100 Clifford Campbell St.) from 2 to 4 p.m. and at the NorthWind Wireless Fiber Centre in Constance Bay (62 Len Purcell Dr.) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Representatives from the City of Ottawa, the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, Ottawa Public Health, the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs, which is responsible for the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians Program, and other organizations will be available to provide information to residents.
If residents can’t attend any of the information sessions, they can join the Spring Flood 2019 Facebook group, for daily updates, or stay up to date on the latest flood recovery information by checking the City’s flood information webpage, or following us on Facebook and Twitter.
