Charges laid in Bells Corners’ break and enter

BELLS CORNERS – Ottawa Police Service (OPS) officers responded to a possible commercial break and enter in the 1-100 block of Cassidy Road on Saturday, (May 2).

“At approximately 3:52 a.m., two men broke a window, entered a commercial building and set off the alarm,” the OPS released in a statement today (May 4). “Security officers responded and observed the two men leaving the building and fleeing the area.”

An OPS K9 assisted responding officers and located one of the suspects in the nearby area. He was arrested without incident.

The Ottawa police Break and Enter Unit charged Devon Lawton-Whitaker, 18-years-old of Ottawa with:

  • Breaking and entering with intent
  • Possession of break and enter tools

Lawton-Whitaker was released on an Undertaking.
