Carp River living classroom
CARP – Help the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) with some beta testing by taking a walk along the Carp River.
On Sunday, July 14 the MVCA is holding a testing session for a new GIS-enabled mobile application called the Ecotrekr App.
“The app will make visits the Carp River site more educational, yet fun at the same time,” the MVCA released in a statement. “Here’s what we need from you – an hour of your time anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to visit the site, download the app, and interact with it as you follow the paved pathway around the site.”
The MVCA asks you to bring your own mobile device – a cell phone or tablet. You will need mobile data as the application needs an active connection for location services. There is Wi-Fi access at the entrance to the site to download the application.
“If there is inclement weather in July 14 the test session will take place on the following Sunday (July 21) at the same time and arrival point,” the MVCA said. “When you are done, we would like you to answer some questions about your experience. Your answers will help improve the app before its official launch in September.”
All participants will have their name entered in to a draw for a one year pass to MVCA’s conservation areas. For more information and to register, email Shannon Gutoskie at sgutoskie@mvca.on.ca.
