Carleton Place crash kills one

CARLETON PLACE – A Saturday evening rollover near Carleton Place has left one person dead and one injured.

On Aug. 17, around 11:30 a.m., officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a car that rolled over on Hwy. 7, near Dwyer Hill Road.

Two victims were found inside the car and both were taken to the hospital. A woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries while the man, later died in hospital, on Sunday (Aug. 18).

Lanark County Paramedics and members of the OPP Collision Reconstruction Unit were also called to the scene to assist police officers. The highway remained closed until around 7 p.m. while the accident was being investigated.

The investigation is still ongoing and authorities are withholding the man’s name as they continue to try to contact his family.
