C Bay Santa parade calling for floats

CONSTANCE BAY – Santa plans for Christmas all year long. But Santa Day in Constance Bay only takes a couple of months.

But that starts now, and organizers have put out a call for floats for the parade scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m.

“Local businesses, community groups/clubs and sports teams are invited to participate in the parade for bragging rights and pizza,” Santa Day in Constance Bay organizers released in a statement today (Oct. 25). The parade theme is The North Pole. From such wildlife as reindeer and penguins to elves working in Santa’s workshop, enjoying winter sports or kicking back in their ice shack, kids of all ages like to imagine life at the North Pole.”

Organizers are also looking for parade entertainment such as bands, gymnasts and “abominable snowmen.”

The parade will start at the General Store, travel along Bayview Drive and then up Len Purcell Drive to the NorthWind Wireless Fibre Centre.

The community centre will also be hosting the Constance Bay Community Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. After the parade there will be lunch and an opportunity for photos with Santa. Parade volunteers will also be collecting food donations for the West Carleton Food Access Centre.

If you are interested in being a part of the parade, you can contact organizers on the official parade Facebook page.
