Branch 616 wraps up 2019
CONSTANCE BAY – Branch 616 thanks everyone who took advantage of the 2020 Earlybird Campaign.
The campaign is over and membership dues return to the regular price of $60 per year. Please submit your 2020 dues by Dec. 31 to remain in good standing. The November winner of the free membership is Vic Jannack. Congratulations, Comrade!
Thank you to Poppy Chair Bogdan Procyk and the Poppy committee for their work on the Poppy Campaign. Thank you to all the volunteers at the poppy tables, the Cadets and the Korean Vets, the runners who kept them supplied, the businesses who displayed poppy boxes and trays, and the collectors who brought everything back to the branch when it was over. Thanks to the donors, the branch realized the goal we had set. Thank you to the Treasurer’s committee who handled this final phase.
The Zone sports program in 2020 will start with Zone darts at Branch 240 Almonte on Jan. 4, mixed darts at 192 Carleton Place, and euchre at Smiths Falls Branch 95. Branch 616 is hosting Seniors Darts on Jan. 11, and washer toss on May 23. The sign-up sheets are on the bulletin board. The Ladies Auxiliary (LA) hosted Zone team darts on Nov. 23: three teams are advancing to District which will be held here in April. And Michelle Bainbridge qualified at District singles in Kingston and will be going to Provincials! Three 616 Cribbage teams also qualified for District: one team placed first so we will be hosting next year. And the LA is hosting District Darts in April thanks to a 616 team placing first last season.
Thank you to all the volunteers, members and executive who help with legion events, especially kitchen. The need is ongoing so keep up the good work. New people always welcome, no experience required.
