CONSTANCE BAY – Branch 616 kicked off 2020 with a perfect New Year’s Levee and is geared up for a busy new season.

Our calendar is filling up fast with our regular standing events and private bookings. The sports program is going strong and membership is up. TGIF dinners are well attended.

The menu for February is as follows: Friday. Feb. 7, Chicken and Ribs; Feb. 14, Roast Beef; Feb. 21 TBA; Feb. 28 Homemade Lasagna and Caesar Salad. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. and is usually $14 including tax, half price for children under nine. Occasionally the price will be different depending on content. A typical Friday night dinner is soup or salad, entre, potatoes, veggies, dessert, tea/coffee. Call the branch if you can volunteer to make a meal.

Gentle Reminder: for those catching up on their membership dues, the fee is $60 and can be paid at the Branch or online. 

The upcoming intra-branch sports dates and sign-up sheets are posted on the board. The Ladies Auxiliary (LA) will be hosting LA District Darts in April. 

The annual Kids Fishing Derby is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 16; the Branch and the Ladies Auxiliary have donated towards food and prizes. 

Past events 

The Branch hosted Zone Seniors Darts in January. The West Carleton team of Jim Wilson, Tom Watters, Eric Currie, and Rob Gallant placed first and are moving up to District. Congratulations comrades.

Coming up

Friday, Feb. 14: Trivia! 7:15 p.m. following TGIF Dinner (Roast Beef by Harriet). Open to everyone 19 years and up. 

Sunday, Feb. 16: Bullshoot! Mixed darts, blind draw doubles (one man, one woman). Register at 11 a.m., play at 11:30 a.m. Open to everyone 19 years and up. You could win yourself some beef.

Sunday, Feb. 23: Old Sled Run. Breakfast & registration is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The run takes off at 10 a.m. Hot chili will be available back at the Branch at 3 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Tuesday, Feb. 25: St. Gabriel’s Pancake Supper. 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 29: District Euchre. Branch 616 will be hosting this year due to placing first at Zone. 

Sunday, March 1: Celebrations of life: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Tuesday, March 17: St. Patrick’s Party. Details to follow. 

Saturday, March 21: Theresa Wilson Memorial Darts: Organized by Harriet Farrell. Four-woman teams. Get your team together. Open to all ladies 19 years and up.

Musical Opportunity: Branch 616 is offering the hall free of charge to aspiring musicians who would like to have a place to practice on Friday nights after TGIF dinner.
