Branch 616 back on track
Branch 616 is back on track. Some June events were cancelled or postponed due to the spring flood crisis. We went ahead with the Ladies Auxiliary Yard Sale and the Vets Visit but the ‘Tony True Night’ is going to be in October.
As Jim Wilson retires as Membership Chair, he reports that Branch 616 had seven renewals and 10 new applications for membership as of May 27. There are 21, 2019 memberships o/s: submissions of these dues are most welcome.
Branch 616 extends congratulations to Delphine Hasle on her appointment as Executive Director of Fundraising for the Perley/Rideau Veterans. She takes over from Dan Clapin, who has retired. Thank you to Dan for his tireless work with our Veterans.
A new dart league will be up and running at 616 in the fall. The ‘West Mixed Darts’ will be shooting every Wednesday at7:00 p.m. If interested in joining, call the Branch at 832-2495 or Todd at 613-913-4731. Also, the sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.

Saturday, June 8: Ladies Auxiliary Annual Yard Sale. Thank you to all who donated items to the bake sale and white elephant table. Thank you to Sheila Masson, Arleen Morrow, Michele Bainbridge and Bogie Procyk for setting up and working. Also thanks to the customers who stopped by: this was one of many sales in the Bay that day.
Saturday, June 8: Men’s Darts Wind-up Party. After an enjoyable day of golf as is the custom, the guys and their guests met at the Branch for the last event of the ’18/19 dart season. Jon MacDougall and Mike Johnson won both season and playoff first place trophies. Mike Johnson also received the Jack Cain trophy for most gentlemanly player.
Saturday, June 15: All Veterans Summer Visit. Thirty-seven guests came for lunch and entertainment – World War Two Vets, Korean Vets and Veterans of Modern-Day service. Thank you to the 616 volunteers who made and served lunch.
Monday, July 1: Canada Day! Thank you to everyone who came out to help Branch 616 celebrate Canada’s birthday! Thank you to George and Sheila Dolan who kept the barbecue going all day – it was a complete sell-out! And thank you to ‘Nt Nrml’ – Steve, Rheal, Rob & Bob – for excellent entertainment. It was a fine Canada Day indeed!
