Beaverbrook armed robber used sawed-off .22

KANATA – Two young men are in custody after an evening armed robbery resulted in a victim getting stabbed in the Beaverbrook area last night (Nov. 17).

“The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) received a 911 call that an armed robbery was taking place in the 1000 block of Teron Road at 9:10 p.m. on Sunday,” the OPS released in a statement today (Nov. 18). “Frontline officers attended the area and met with the two victims. A 20-year-old male victim had suffered a stab wound, considered non-life threatening, and a 20-year-old female victim suffered no physical injuries.”

Details of the event and descriptions of the suspects were given to officers. Two suspects matching the description were arrested a short distance away. Officers seized a .22calibre rifle and a knife, which were both used during the offence.

Gubar A. Atem, and Charles Eugusis Wood, both 19-years-old of Ottawa, are jointly facing 14 charges related to firearm and robbery offences. Atem is also facing a criminal charge of Having a face Masked / Disguised.

Both Atem and Wood were scheduled to attend show cause court Monday.
