Barricaded man surrenders peacefully in Arnprior

ARNPRIOR – A 67-year-old male has surrendered peacefully after barricading himself in a home in Arnprior this morning (Dec. 4).

Constables with the Renfrew County Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a possibly armed man barricaded in a home around 10 a.m.

“A barricaded person incident in Arnprior has ended peacefully,” OPP media relations coordinator Const. Bill Dickson released in a statement this afternoon. “On Dec. 4, shortly after 10 a.m., officers with the Renfrew County Detachment of the OPP responded to a barricaded, potentially armed person incident at a home on John Street North.”

The incident ended without violence.

“The 67-year old male surrendered without incident after speaking to an OPP member,” Dickson said. “The investigation is continuing. While there was a large police presence in the area, there was no concern for public safety at any time.”
