Ashes recovered, laptop still missing

OTTAWA – The ashes are back but the laptop is still missing, following a Vanier robbery of a funeral home and church.

“The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Central Break and Enter Unit would like to thank the public for its overwhelming response in assisting us with recovering the three keepsake pendants containing ashes of a deceased,” the OPS released in a statement today (March 15). “These precious items containing a dearly missed and loved one were returned to an overwhelmed and grateful family. Without the assistance of the public in this matter, this family would not have had their dearly departed repatriated.”

The police are asking the public if they have information regarding a missing laptop containing over 700 musical scores described as a Lenovo B50-45 notebook (model #59441916).

Anyone with information regarding the missing laptop is asked to please contact the Central Break and Enter Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 4533. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
