Art, outdoors combine for Carp camp
CARP – On your mark, get ready, set, go, it’s time to explore, create art, get muddy, play sports, search for frogs and unplug.
“Join us for an exciting collaboration between the Ottawa Art Gallery and Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre for three weeks of summer art camps,” Carp Ridge EcoWellness program coordinator Darlene MLay said. “From July 8 to 26, Art in the Woods will offer a multi-dimensional camp experience that is age focused. The camper’s days will be filled with creative sessions, nature discovery walks and forest play. Each week will include professional artist-led workshops using upcycled and natural materials. Additionally, there will be healthy afternoon snacks and nutritional learning led by Registered Holistic Nutritionist Heather Weddell.”
The remaining two weeks of Ridge Nature camp start the weeks of July 2 and July 29 for children aged four to 12. Campers will have the opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors through games in the sports field, playing in the wilderness playground, walking on forest trails and time at the frog pond. Nature crafts and two healthy snacks per day are also a part of the immersive programming.
“All five weeks of camp will take place at Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre, located on 190 acres of rocky wilderness, enchanting forests, and thriving wetlands,” McLay said. “If you are interested in having your camper get out of the classroom and into fresh air, join us in play and learn in nature.”
