ARNPRIOR – Three years after it was first proposed, Arnprior will soon have its own Ottawa Senators Foundation outdoor rink in Legion Park on Edey Street.

Town planner and interim CAO Robin Paquette says with the passing of an agreement Monday (Jan. 27) night by council, the project is good to go.

Arnprior is responsible for lighting the outdoor facility, and $30 thousand dollars is budgeted for the task. The town will also provide year-round recreation programming at the rink location, as it is to be built on a concrete pad.

The interim CAO says Sullivan Construction is anxious to begin construction as soon as weather permits.

The Optimist Club of Arnprior, Senators and Sullivan Construction and the are the principle backers of this initiative which has been a slow-moving process due to location and responsibility.

The construction of the project is estimated in the $300,000 area.
