Arnprior man arrested in Pakenham assault

PAKENHAM – A man has been arrested following a serious assault against his wife west of Pakenham yesterday.

“The Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in connection with a serious assault, west of Pakenham, which sent one person to hospital,” OPP media relations coordinator Const. Bill Dickson released in a statement yesterday (Aug. 19). “OPP officers and Lanark County Paramedics responded to a residence in Mississippi Mills Township, shortly after 7 a.m. on Aug. 19.

A 33-year old female was transported to an Ottawa hospital with serious injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year old male from Arnprior has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Aggravated assault-spousal
  • Failing to comply with an undertaking

“The identity of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim,” Dickson said. “The accused has been remanded in custody, with an appearance scheduled before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Aug. 24.”
