Arnprior begins 2020 budget process

ARNPRIOR –Arnprior Council formally kicked off its budget process for 2020 hosting a public meeting in Council Chambers last night (Dec. 11).

Representatives from the Physician Recruitment committee, Seniors Active Living Centre, Arnprior Airport Commission, the Arnprior and McNab-Braeside Archives and the Arnprior Public Library all made their pitches for funding support.

While the meeting had set aside time for additional delegations, there was no one present who wanted to speak on the budget.

Treasurer Jennifer Morawiec says the heavy lifting doesn’t begin until the New Year.

“The first budget meeting is planned for Jan. 20, that’s usually when the staff will present, usually quite a lengthy Power Point presentation to council,” Morawiec told Oldies 107.7 FM. “That’s when we’ll table the budget with council. At that point, council will have a few weeks where they can review those budget documents then budget deliberations are scheduled the first couple of weeks of February.”

If everything goes according to plan, Arnprior will pass the 2020 Town Budget the second Monday in February.
