Armed man commits three Kanata robberies in an hour

KANATA – An armed robber attempted three robberies in an hour-long crime spree in the Kanata area.

“The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Robbery Unit is looking for public assistance in identifying a male suspect involved in three consecutive armed robberies in the West end today,” the OPS released in a statement.

At approximately 10:39 a.m., in the 1 to 100 block of Bishops Mills Way, a male suspect approached the victim pointing a gun and asked for his wallet.  The victim stated he did not carry a wallet before the suspect fled on foot.

At approximately 11:08 a.m., in the 700 block of March Road, a male suspect entered a convenience store armed with a gun demanding money.  He stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., in the 5800 block of Hazeldean Road, a male suspect entered a convenience store armed with a gun, demanding money and cigarettes. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.

“In all three instances, the suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 5’10” (178 cm) with a slim build,” the OPS said. “He was wearing all black clothing, white latex gloves, black Balaklava and black sunglasses.  He was carrying a blue reusable grocery bag. This suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Please do not approach him, call 911 immediately.”
