Almonte Country Haven loses two more, Renfrew County confirms a new case
OTTAWA VALLEY – Almonte long-term care home reports two more people have died as a result of COVID-19 and in Renfrew County, confirmed cases reach 23.
The provincial website updating new case information in long-term care homes across Ontario now shows 30 people at the 82 bed home have died due to complications from the novel coronavirus. This is up from the 28 deaths reported near the end of last week.
Some good news is the Almonte Country Haven home is not reporting any new confirmed COVID-19 cases in residents or staff. West Carleton Online published a story of two West Carleton natives who now live at the residence. They will be celebrating their 73rd anniversary this Sunday.
At Stoneridge Manor in Carleton Place, 52 of the residents at the 60-bed home are still listed as active cases with six reported deaths. Four staff members at the long-term care home in Carleton Place still have COVID-19.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has confirmed a 23rd case of COVID-19 in the area. The numbers released yesterday (May 19) show one additional case compared to Monday and 38 more tests.
The RCDHU says 135 people are still waiting for test results to come back. The RCDHU has tested 2,649 people in Renfrew County and 2,491 of those tests came back negative. Of the 23 confirmed cases 14 are now resolved. There has been one death in the county attributed to COVID-19.
