AECON awarded Carleton Place 2019 construction program

CARLETON PLACE – Carleton Place’s town council announced AECON Construction will be taking on a major road rehabilitation project this summer.

“The Town of Carleton Place would like to announce that AECON Construction has been awarded the contract for the 2019 construction program,” Carleton Place staff released in a statement last Friday (July 19). “Public Works has received the schedule from AECON and activity will commence next week.”

Crews will be installing construction signage in the affected areas and work is anticipated to begin on Herriott Street sometime during the week. If time and weather permits, crews may move over to the Queen Street South and Antrim Street area later in the week.

“Residents impacted by construction will receive letters from AECON providing contact information and information about the activity occurring on their street,” staff said. “The town is also requesting residents to mark their waste bins with their address as periodically crews may need to relocate waste bins to an area accessible for waste collection trucks and we would like to ensure everyone gets their own bins returned. This would assist AECON greatly.”

The town also hopes motorists will show patience during this construction activity.

“Together, AECON and the Town of Carleton Place would like to ask for your help in ensuring safe and efficient work zones,” staff said. “We encourage residents to avoid the construction zones, however, should residents be travelling within the construction zones, we urge you to proceed with caution and follow the directions provided by the traffic control persons and posted construction signage. We ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation during the construction season.”
