A West Carleton Canada Day

WEST CARLETON – You can hit five different celebrations on Canada Day without ever leaving West Carleton – because we know how to party.

Kick-off your day with a hearty breakfast at the Canada Day Seniors Breakfast hosted by the Huntley Community Association at the Huntley Mess Hall (2240 Craig Side Rd.).

“Join the Huntley Community Association (HCA) for a free Canada Day Seniors’ Breakfast sponsored by Coun. Eli El-Chantiry,” the HCA released in a statement. “Come celebrate Canada Day with your neighbours over a complimentary breakfast. This event is open to all seniors who wish to attend. There is no need to RSVP, simply drop-in and join the party.”

The Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum will also be hosting a morning event. Drop by or book now for their annual event running from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 3929 Carp Rd.

“Join us at the Diefenbunker Museum on Canada’s 152nd birthday,” museum staff released in a statement. “We’ll have family-friendly activities, a Canada themed scavenger hunt through the entire four-story underground bunker, an obstacle course and more. Entry time must be booked ahead of time. Entry cannot be guaranteed without a pre-booked ticket.”

In Constance Bay, the West Carleton Legion will be hosting a celebration and barbecue. The part gets underway at 1 p.m. at the branch at 377 Allbirch Rd.

“Celebrate the nation’s birthday in Constance Bay at the West Carleton Legion, Branch 616,” Legion volunteers released in a statement. “Live music gets underway at 1 p.m. and continues until 6 p.m. There will be a cash BBQ for approximately $5 a plate and refreshments will be available. Everyone welcome.”

In Dunrobin at the Eagle Creek Golf Club, Light Up Dunrobin gets underway starting at 3 p.m. with a line-up of talented musicians headlined by Juno award winning, Kira Isabella.

“The Light Up Dunrobin Canada Day event is a celebration to bring our community together,” organizers released in a statement. “Enjoy an afternoon of amazing music, delicious food and beautiful friends. The event will be capped off with an awe-inspiring fireworks display.”

Last but never least, the Corkery Community Association is hosting its annual Canada Day celebration at the Corkery Community Centre at 3447 Almonte Rd.

Organizers are having a later start that usual turning the day event in to an early evening party.

The entertainment line-up starts at 4:30 p.m. with some entertainment for the younger community members topped by the Steve Stacey Band hitting the stage at 8:30 p.m. followed by fireworks.
