Short Finger Brewing Releases Deus Ex Machina Blended Spontaneous Ale
KITCHENER, ON – Short Finger Brewing has announced the release of a new and especially ambitious beer.
Deus Ex Machina (5.3% abv) is described as follows:
Deus is a blend of 3, 2, and 1-year barrel-aged beer that was spontaneously inoculated with the yeast and bacteria in the parking lot around the brewery. If you have been following along with this project, the first brew started in the old brewing space when we resided in the unit where Wooden Boat Food currently lives. Each year, Rob sets hot wort (covered) out in the parking lot and spends the night fending off raccoons and answering questions to confused late-night passersby. The beer is then fermented directly in barrels and aged for up to 3 years. Inspired by Belgian Gueuze, this is an acidic, funky beer that is in a world of its own. We’ve decided not to use the Methode Traditionnelle label on this release; although it meets the criteria, we’re just not that into labels… (except our own and this one is pretty sweet).
Deus Ex Machina is available now at the Short Finger retail store and online shop.
